THE IMPORTANCE OF GHUSAL ON A FRIDAY There are many virtues of ghusl on the day of Jumuah. Once Hadhrat Nabi Isaa (alayhis salaam) passed by a hunter who had caught a she-springbuck. Pleading the buck said to Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam): “O Ruhullah! Let the hunter allow me to feed my kids. I shall return thereafter.” Refusing, the hunter said that the buck would not return. In response the buck said: “If I do not return, I shall be worse than the person who refrains from ghusl on Fridays.” The buck was then allowed to go. After feeding her kids, the buck returned. Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam) had intended to purchase the buck from the hunter for a gold coin. He wanted to set it free. But before his arrival the hunter had slaughtered the buck. Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam) in grief cursed the hunter and said: “May there never be blessings in your profession.” The effect of Hadhrat Isaa’s (alayhis salaam) curse will remain with hunters until the Day of Qiyaamah. There is no barkat in the profession of hunting. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that a hunter is a ghaafil (an unmindful and careless person.) In Ihyaaul Uloom, Imaam Ghazaali (rahmatullah alayh) states that whenever there developed a conflict between the people of Madinah and Makkah, they would say to each other: “You are worse than the man who does not take ghusl on Fridays.” Imaam Shaafi (rahmatullah alayh) said: “I never refrained from Jumuah ghusl whether at home or on a journey.” In a Hadith it is narrated that below the Arsh (Throne of Allah) are many cities filled with angels. They all supplicate to Allah Ta’ala to forgive those who take ghusl on Fridays and perform Jumuah Salaat. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that the Jumuah ghusl eradicates sins from right under the roots of the hairs on the body. To gain the virtues of ghusl it is necessary to make niyyat of ghusl. If on a Friday one has to take ghusl of janaabat, then the niyyat of ghusl-e-janaabat should be made first. Thereafter niyyat of Jumuah ghusl should be made. The one ghusl suffices for both acts. |
THE ISLAMIC BELIEF IN ALLAH Belief in Allah is not confined to belief in the mere existence of a Creator. This belief necessitates the affirmation of Allah Ta'ala with all His Attributes in the way in which these are expounded in the Qur'aan and Hadith. A conception of a Divine Being differing from the the Islaamic conception of Allah will not be belief in Allah Ta'ala. ISLAAMIC CONCEPTION OF ALLAH Allah Ta'ala is the Being Who is Waajibul Wujood which means that His existence is by Himself, i.e. He is self-existent. His existence is absolutely independent of all things. He is Waahid, i.e. He is absolute unity in that it is impossible for the concept of Waajibul Wujood to apply to any other Being, it being exclusively His attribute. He is Qadeem, i.e. there is no beginning for His existence. In other words, He is eternal. He is Qaadir (omnipotent-All powerful); Hayy (Alive); Aleem (one of knowledge); Baseer (the one who sees); Samee' (the Hearer); Mureed (the one who wills). He is Mutakallim (one who speaks). Allah Ta 'ala has neither form or shape nor body. He does not subsist in any substratum. Nothing can contain Him, but He encompasses everything. He does not consist of particles or atoms. He has no constituent parts and He has no limits. He has no end. He has no comparison and He has no properties and states such as colour, taste, odour, coldness, moistness, dryness. Time does not pass over Him. Nothing, down to the slightest detail, is beyond His knowledge and power. He is aware of all details and particulars of every atom and of all things in creation. He does not beget nor was he begotten. He is the Sustainer, the Nourisher and the Controller of all creation. He is the Overseer, the Guard and the Protector of all and everything, from the greatest creation down to the minutest atom. His Control, Command and Knowledge extends simultaneously and perpetually over every single aspect and atom of creation. Not a leaf blowing in the breeze, blows without His comand, control and knowledge. All things operate by His direction. The name of ALLAH Whoever says the name of ALLAH, 1000 thousand times daily, all forms of doubts and uncertainties will be removed from his heart and, instead, determination and faith will become ingrained in him. It is also very effective in the cure of an incurable disease if Dua is made after reciting it excessively. ![]() PROTECTION AGAINST THE PUNISHMENT IN THE GRAVE Faqih Abu Laith (Rahmatullah alayh) said that eight things are necessary for gaining protection against the punishment of the grave. 1.) Constancy in Salaat 2.) Sadqah in abundance 3.) Much Tilaawat of the Qur’aan 4.) Reciting Tasbeeh in abundance These four acts brighten the grave and produce light therein. The remaining four things are acts from which to abstain. 1.) Lies (falsehood) 2.) Abuse of trust 3.) Gossip (gheebat) 4.) Splashes of urine. THE SERPENTS IN THE GRAVE Hadhrat Abu Saeed Khudri (Radiyallahu anhu) reports that (99) serpents are released into the grave of a kaafir and they will remain there until the day of Qiyaamah. These serpents are so poisonous that if one of them has to spit onto the earth, no vegetation will ever grow there. ( DAARMI) ![]() PARENTS IN ISLAM Allah Ta’ala raised the position of parents second only to His obedience. “ And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be dutiful to your parents. If one or both of them attain old age in your lifetime, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor repulse them, but address them in terms of honour.” ( Qur’aan) Abdullah bin Masood (Radiyallahu Anhu) says: I asked Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), “Which action is most beloved to Allah?” He replied: “Salaat on time”. I said: “Then what?” He replied: “Kindness to parents”. I said: “Then what?” He replied: “Jihaad in the path of Allah.” ( Bukhari,Muslim ). A careful observation of the reply given by Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) reveals that kindness to parents occupies a lofty position between two of the greatest forms of Ibaadah, Salaah and Jihaad. The greatest of all angels, Jibraeel (Alayhis Salaam) made this duaa: “Destruction be to that person who has one or both of his parents alive and ( Through failure to serve them) is not allowed to enter Jannah.” The greatest of all Prophets, Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) replied: “Ameen” to this Duaa. |
